The challenge

Understanding what the site actually required.

GenTech SA supplied and installed generators across six Northlink College campuses to provide backup power during mains failures. After installation, the client identified that some generator positions were close to classrooms and required further noise reduction to minimise disruption to teaching.

GenTech SA solution

Engineering the generator solution around the application.

GenTech SA supplied four 500 kVA and two 400 kVA FAW generators, giving 2,800 kVA of installed standby capacity across the six campuses. To address the additional acoustic requirement, twin hospital-spec stainless-steel exhaust silencers were fitted and the exhaust systems were extended vertically beyond building level to reduce exhaust noise around the classrooms.

Project takeaway

A generator installation does not end when the machine is commissioned. The system can be adapted when real site conditions reveal additional operating requirements.
