ATS & Automatic Mains Failure Systems

Automatic changeover systems monitor the mains supply, start the generator after a failure and transfer the load according to the configured control sequence.

How AMF works

Backup power without waiting for someone to start the generator.

An AMF/ATS system is intended to automate the normal standby-generator sequence. Exact delays and logic are configured around the controller, generator and site requirements.

1Mains failureThe controller detects an unacceptable utility supply.
2Generator startsThe engine starts and stabilises before load transfer.
3Load transfersThe changeover connects the selected load to generator power.
4Mains returnsThe load transfers back and the generator completes its cool-down.

New generator packages

Automatic changeover can be incorporated into a new GenTech generator package according to the site requirements.

Existing installations

Existing systems can be assessed where automatic operation, controls or changeover equipment need attention.

Control integration

Start/stop contacts, mains sensing, generator-ready signals and transfer logic must work as one system.

Testing

Commissioning should include practical simulation of mains failure and restoration where the site permits.
