The challenge

Understanding what the site actually required.

Averda required additional power capacity to operate its plastic recycling plant. The project required more than conventional standby generation: two large generator sets had to operate as a coordinated system and integrate with the incoming mains supply.

GenTech SA solution

Engineering the generator solution around the application.

GenTech SA built two 650 kVA Kirloskar-powered diesel generators, providing 1,300 kVA of combined installed generator capacity. The generators were configured to synchronise with each other and with the Eskom mains supply so the site could access the additional power required for plant operation.

Project takeaway

Multiple generators and the mains supply can form one engineered power system when the site requires additional capacity and operating flexibility.
