Load Testing & Commissioning
Operational checks and controlled load testing help confirm that the generator, protection and controls perform as expected before the system is relied on during a power failure.
Test the complete operating sequence.
Commissioning is more than confirming that the engine starts. The generator must produce acceptable voltage and frequency, respond correctly to controls and carry the intended load within the limits of the system.
Pre-start inspection
Fluids, connections, battery, fuel, ventilation, exhaust and visible installation conditions.
No-load operation
Starting sequence, warm-up, voltage, frequency, controller indications and basic alarm checks.
Load behaviour
Generator response as load is applied, subject to available and suitable test/load arrangements.
Automatic sequence
Where applicable, ATS/AMF operation can be checked through the expected mains-failure and return sequence.
New sets, repaired sets and generators that spend most of their life waiting.
Testing can be particularly useful after major repairs, commissioning of a new installation, or where a standby generator has not carried meaningful load for an extended period.
- New generator commissioning
- After significant repair work
- Investigation of load-related shutdowns
- Periodic confidence testing on critical standby sets
