The generator was required as backup for a solar system in Durban. The coastal environment added another requirement: the generator package needed improved protection against corrosion and rust in humid, salt-laden conditions.
GenTech SA built a custom Volvo-powered generator using a stainless-steel acoustic canopy, stainless-steel fuel tank and stainless-steel exhaust system. The material selection was made specifically to improve corrosion resistance while providing the required solar-backup functionality.
